Denim Shirt Take 2

The title isn't exactly accurate since I have worn my denim Madewell shirt more than two times since buying it.  However this is the second outfit post (first one is here) I am doing featuring my new favorite piece. The weather was a little chilly at the start of the day so I chose to wear stockings instead of bare-legging it, that and I don't feel that the blogosphere is quite ready for post-winter pasty stems.  The skirt is the vintage Yves Saint Laurent number I wore to the IFB conference in February (here).  The bright belt was my way of adding a pop of color to some classic pieces.

What I am saying I don't know. I think this would be my diva face, if I was a diva.

What I'm Wearing:
Shirt: Madewell (current season)
Skirt: vintage
Stockings: Nordstrom (fall)
Belt: Ann Taylor (current season)
Shoes: Repetto
Necklace: LOFT

Shopping Haul at LOFT

I have been on a self-enforced shopping diet for the last few months.  Well this week I decided to take a break from the torture...uh I mean diet, to indulge a little.  I had a $100 gift card that I had been saving since Christmas and a coupon for LOFT so off I skipped to my nearest LOFT location. This little video is a roundup of what I bought.  To shop the pieces in the video see the links below.

To Shop My Loft Picks:
Rib Tank - $14.50 or 3 for $35

Silky Layers and a Bow-dorable Sweater

This has been a fairly strange winter, at least in terms of the weather.  Freezing cold and grey one day, mild and sunny the next.  Most mornings when it's mild I almost don't know how to dress, especially since it gets significantly colder in the late afternoon and evening.  Today's solution to a day in the 50's light layers under a silk sweater.  The gossamer layers under the sweater help to add color and texture to the outfit without adding bulk, the silk sweater is for the added warmth (silk insulates).

Posing with the faux Monet.

Cue flapper pose, one foot up, coy head tilt, perfect. It's the bee's knees.

This sweater is just bow-dorable! I am so sorry for that.

The stacked rings were a Christmas gift, I am constantly wearing them.

Remember the eyeshadow palette I received for Christmas, well today I tried the purple shades.

What I'm Wearing (all old except the jeans and the rings):
Sweater: DKNY
Blouse: Loft
Camisole: Nanette Lepore
Jeans: Guess
Belt: J. Crew
Shoes: Naturalizer
Rings: Dogs Kin Studio

Here are some recent online shopping finds that recreate the look:

Outfit Chronicles: Akin to Stevie Nicks

Today's outfit was certainly inspired the originator of Bohemian chic, Stevie Nicks.  Nicks flair for chunky necklaces and rings, ethereal layers, and diaphanous skirts solidified her gypsy troubadour image.  Her iconic style has certainly cast a spell on fashion history.  My outfit is more an interpretation of her look rather than a direct copy.  I swapped out the tiered skirt for a pair of classic jeans, threw on a few chains, some chunky sandals and rock on Gold Dust Woman.

Jacket: Love Squared (Nordstrom Rack)
Tank Top: Old Navy Petite
Necklace: Handmade, LOFT
Rings: Vintage, Lia Sophia
Belt: Vintage
Jeans: Paige Premium Denim - Peg Skinny
Sandals: Clarks

Who has been inspiring your style lately? Is is a particular person, or a decade, maybe another influence has seeped into your style, share the deets below.

Outfit Chronicles: Daytime Sparkle

Note: Despite connotations of the title this is not a primer on how to achieve the otherworldly sunlit diamond shimmer of certain undead fictional characters.
On my days off it is very tempting to throw on any old thing and laze about the house. While I do allow myself the occasional day to be slubby in attitude and appearance, it does not help my creativity or my productivity for that matter. So on days when I feel the least inclined to get dressed I often do the opposite, I get dressed up as if I am going out somewhere. Nothing fancy just some casual pieces with a little something special thrown on to give it a splash of color, a little style or in this case a little sparkle.

Outfit Chronicles: Paint Splatter Pattern

This summer, in comparison to previous years, has been fairly mild.  However there have been days that are the complete opposite of mild, when the area is hit with a bout of 90 degree heat and humidity.  On days where it feels too hot to care what you look like I dress in easy separates, nothing too clingy, all made of super light, breathable and washable fabrics. Here is one of the warm weather survival looks that I have styled for those lovely (not really) hot and humid summer days.

Music Festival Day

I have been neglecting my blog lately, whether because of my work schedule or another bout of writer's block.  Well I did not fall off the face of the earth in case you were wondering, I am back and had to share my weekend in Westchester with you.

Outfit Chronicles: Bring on the Summer

The temperature has been incredibly erratic lately, on Thursday, a week after torrential rain mind you, it reached 80 degrees.  In celebration of the warm weather, and the fact that it finally stopped raining, I decided to don some new summer threads.
