Today I woke up to the sound of raindrops on the roof. Normally I find the percussive pitter-patter of rain comforting, but I did not have the luxury of staying in bed. I had to trudge out into the rain to head to work. While getting dressed I couldn't help but wish I had some more water resistant pieces in my wardrobe. As I hummed the children's rhyme "rain, rain go away, come again some other day" I made a mental list of some items that would help to keep one warm and dry on dreary, rain soaked day.
A trench coat is a must, but if you are bored with the traditional knee length khaki variety try a cropped version in a different color. Like this adorbs one from Nordstrom in a smokey gray.
Rainboots are always handy on a wet day, but as the weather warms up I tend to not want to wear boots, if you have a similar aversion, try a cute ballet or clog style. These lovely leopard print ballet flats from Sperry Top-Sider are rainy day and fashion friendly.
I don't know about you but I am always carrying a million things and then to add to that carrying an umbrella, it is beyond awkward. Instead I think a chic bucket hat that keeps your hair dry and your hands free is just the thing.
The last thing on my rainy day list is a waterproof tote. Perfect for keeping the essentials at your side and water-free. I would even toss my nice leather bag in the tote as I run around town. The bright color of this waterproof tote at Vatinel on Etsy is sure to brighten the greyest of grey days.
What are your key pieces to surviving a rainy day? Are you pro or anti umbrella?
The old photo is a nice touch. Each piece is fun but I especially like the cropped trench. By the way, I am so anti-umbrella. Hands free is the way to go.
